Frank Geib

Frank Geib is one of the properous business men of Sheboygan, where he is engaged in the general contracting and building business. He was born in Scott township, Washington county, Wisconsin, October 10, 1873, and is a son of John and Anna (Weins) Geib, both of whom were natives of the Rhine Province in Prussia. The father, with his wife and four children, emigrated to America in 1846 and on reaching Chicago came by boat to Port Washington, from which place he traveled by ox team to Sheboygan, where he effected his permanent settlement on a farm located in Sheboygan township and there continued to live during the remaining days of his life. He was one of the early pioneers of Sheboygan county and among the well known and influential citizens of the community in which he lived. He had a family of five children, as follows: John, who is a resident of Chicago; Matthias, living on the old homestead; Peter, who is a resident of Washington county; Margaret, who is the wife of Peter Kies, of Washington county; and Frank, of this review.

The last named was reared in his parents' home and received his early education in the public schools of Wisconsin. He started in life for himself at the age of thirteen, when he learned the carpenter's trade and for two years thereafter remained under the parental roof. He then came to Sheboygan, where he worked for a number of years at his trade and in 1897 he established himself in the contracting and building business, in which he has since successfully continued. Among some of the notable structures which he has built in Sheboygan may be numbered the south side Catholic church and the new Austrian church, also the new plant of the Badger State Tannery Company and the hospital of one of the large Catholic churches of this city. In addition to the .above he has also built many of the present residences in Sheboygan. He is also interested in valuable real estate in that city.

Mr. Geib was united in marriage to Carolina Assinger, a native of Germany, who as a girl emigrated with her parents to America. To Mr. and Mrs, Geib three children have been born, namely: Frank, who is ten years of age; Marie. seven years old; and Caroline, a maiden of three. Mr. Geib when a child received his early religious instruction in St. John's Catholic church, Washington county, and he is now a member of the Knights of Columbus of Sheboygan. He is one of the well known and respected citizens of Sheboygan county and numbered among the enterprising, useful and reliable men of the city in which he lives.
